Race Repost: Hobs, Drops & Roll
Operation: Hobs, Drops & Roll.
Race report by Pieter Zietsman.
After a very successful opening event of the Special Ops OCR held in Bloemfontein on the 8th of October, it was time for the second event of the year, Operation: Hobs, Drops & Roll.
What a great course, a bit of narrow sections that impedes traffic flow for the first 500m or so but other than that the course was well designed. The course covered a wide variety of terrain, and the addition of a few new obstacles made for a truly challenging but most importantly, a fun experience.
At the first event I only entered the 5km Corporal race, just to get a feel of what the race has to offer. I was pleased with the terrain and obstacles that the race provided and this time decided to enter the 10km Sergeant Elite category. There were a few minor changes to the obstacles here and there, but the route was more or less the same. Unfortunately, some of the elite racers from the first event could not participate due to injuries etc. (May good health envelop you, spurring a quick recovery). But make no mistake, everyone who did compete are top athletes and all of them deserves to win.
I was blessed to make it to the finishing line in first place after a challenging battle against Herman Smit who crossed the line just 2 seconds behind me. I take my hat off for you Herman and want to thank you for your hard work with all of us at Ultimate Bootcamp Bloemfontein. Our teammates Hendri Pretorius and Linde De Jager came in at 3rd and 4th place, and our female participant Jumandie Kruizinga also took 1st place. A great day at the office for the Ultimate Bootcamp team.
I also want to congratulate each and everyone who participated at this event! Well done and keep on working hard, success is just around the corner. All the glory to God for blessing us all with amazing talents!
I can highly recommend this event to everyone in Bloemfontein who wants to challenge themselves and their abilities, or anyone who just wants to do something fun and different with their friends and family. I am looking forward to seeing you all there next year.
